From preparing a meal to cleaning up later. 

So that way you can see exactly what all you will need BEFORE the disaster and can make the necessary changes to your planning.

During the day or night, just pretend that your power is off for 5, 8, even 24 hours. 

You can even turn it off at the box if you want. 

And see for yourself what it will be like. What you will need, and what you should be getting.

There are many videos on YouTube of families who have done this. Consider watching some of them, they are very informative. 

Look into push lights. They also have lights that can be powered and charged by USB

Have you Considered solar lights?

The outdoor solar lights work great indoors. Let them charge up in the sun during the day and bring them in at night.

They will give us 8-12 hours of continuous light without the need for batteries. You can usually find them in the home/garden section of your local home depot/lowes/etc. Or on Amazon 

Have you Considered a power inverter?

During a power outage you can plug your toasters, dual burners, tv's, cell chargers, laptops, etc into the power inverter and plug that into your car to power your small devices. 

For example, most electric dual burners (hot plates) are 1200 - 1800 watts. So When you buy a dual burner, and the power goes out, you can plug your dual burner into this 2000 watt power inverter, and plug this inverter into your car, and still cook, boil water, etc.

During a nationwide power outage government services may set up centers where people can come charge devices. If we invest in a power bank, if that time comes for us and we can find somewhere with electricity we can fill up our power bank and take it home.

If we are forced to evacuate, we should be sure to bring with us a stove top pressure cooker as well as an electric pressure cooker. So no matter where we are we can cook our Navy beans, inside or out.

If you have not done so already, go and get the longest extension cord you can find. Make sure its water resistant. Get two.
