⚠️ Why #LucaBrasi Was Killed: "Tattaglia and Sollozzo wanted to start dealing drugs, and knew that Sonny Corleone was interested in the deal (he showed interest at the original meeting, much to his father’s displeasure).

However they also knew that The Don was not interested in this deal because he felt that drugs would destroy The Mafia.

So their plan was to kill The Don, and have Sonny inherit control of The Corleone family, then approach him with the deal and hope he takes it.

Sonny was a bit of a hot-head (witness what he did to Carlo Rizzi after he smacked Connie around) but they kidnapped Tom and got him to talk Sonny down.

But they were fully aware that IF they shot and killed Don Vito Corleone, Luca Brasi would come after them all guns blazing and would not stop until HE KILLED EVERYONE involved in the murder of The Don.

So - they got to him first.

Which is why they killed him. 

To ensure that - when The Don was found dead - Luca Brasi would not come after them."
